We are pleased to announce an upcoming visit from Dr. Bonnie Keeler from the Center for Science, Technology and Environmental Policy at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Keeler’s work focuses on communication of water management and policy, and the intersection of sustainability science and environmental economics. You can learn more here: Dr. Bonnie Keeler.
Dr. Keeler will present a public lecture at 6 pm CDT in 1309 Centennial Hall on Thursday, April 14 (simulcast also available here). The topic will be “What is clean water worth? Value, threats, tradeoffs, and equity implications.” Her interdisciplinary approach highlights connections among perceptions of value, the use of environmental resources, and social justice.
The talk will be of interest in for students interested in environmental studies, natural sciences, social justice, sustainable business, and public policy.
The lecture will be a great follow up to the Agnes W.H. Tan Science Symposium hosted in March at Viterbo University on the topic of “What’s in Our Drinking Water?” and to UWL’s 2022 Social Justice Week, focused on the theme of Spaces, Places and People: The Urgency of Intersectional Environmentalism, Unified Communities, and Mutual Networks.
